Fitment Guide
AF.CRBN components are manufactured from dry pre-preg carbon fibre, cured under precisely controlled heat and pressure. This process delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance, OEM-level consistency, and the flawless weave quality expected from premium carbon fibre components.
Every AF.CRBN component is engineered specifically for its intended BMW model to ensure precise fitment while maintaining factory body lines.

TOOLS & PREPARATION
Essential Tools
- Microfibre cloth
- Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) cleaner
- Masking tape
- Trim removal tools
- Torque wrench (for bolt-on components)
Preparation
- Install in a clean, dry environment.
- Ideal installation temperature: 18–30°C.
- Avoid installing in cold, humid conditions or direct sunlight.
Installation
1. Inspect
- Check for transport damage.
- Verify weave alignment and finish.
- Test fit the component before removing any adhesive backing.
2. Prepare the Surface
- Clean all mounting surfaces using IPA cleaner.
- Remove grease, wax and dirt completely.
3. Dry Fit (Essential)
Position the component without adhesive and confirm:
- Alignment
- Panel gaps
- Clearance
Carbon fibre components are rigid by design. Never force a part into position, as excessive pressure may damage the weave or resin finish.
4. Install
Adhesive Components
AF.CRBN adhesive-mounted carbon fibre splitters, side skirts and other exterior components should be positioned accurately before removing the remaining adhesive backing
Adhesive Components
- Position accurately before removing the remaining adhesive backing.
- Apply firm, even pressure across the entire surface.
Bolt-On Components
- Use the correct torque specifications.
- Do not overtighten.
Hybrid Mounting
- Align the component first.
- Lightly secure bolts before applying final pressure.
5. Adhesive Cure
Allow adhesive to cure for 12–24 hours.
During this time:
- Avoid washing the vehicle.
- Avoid pressure washing.
- Avoid high-speed or track driving.
6. Final Check
Inspect:
- Panel alignment
- Bonding strength
- Symmetry
- Edge fitment
Common Installation Mistakes
- Skipping the dry fit
- Installing in cold or humid conditions
- Using incorrect tools
- Overheating with a heat gun
- Forcing misaligned components
Professional Installation
For high-value exterior carbon fibre components, AF.CRBN recommends installation by an authorised workshop to ensure:
- Factory-standard panel alignment
- Correct torque procedures
- Paint-safe installation
- Warranty-safe fitment
- Reduced risk of carbon fibre damage
Damage resulting from incorrect installation, modification or misuse may not be covered under the AF.CRBN warranty.
PRO TIPS
- Work in clean, controlled environments
- Keep parts at stable temperature before install
- Never rush adhesive bonding
- For high-value parts → always consider professional fitting
